I'm looking for a shoulder bag that will allow me to carry a small (12") laptop, a notebook or two, and a R2A. Preferably the R2A has its own padded compartment. I don't want something with 2396203682309 pockets - the simpler the better.
Right now I"m looking at the Domke 802 and 803 - any other recommendations?
Many thanks!

I'm not sure the 803 will be big enough for the camera and laptop both. I love mine, but don't see where I'd fit a laptop in. I'd probably take a look at some of the Crumpler bags, and I think Tenba has a satchel line that might have space for laptops as well?

I'd get a normal bookbag and then cover your R2A in a Domke wrap or similar. Then you can put the camera in with your books, or slip it into a separate non-padded pocket.

The laptop is really small, I don't think it's an issue of fitting into the back of an 803 - I'm just wondering if with the large pocket filled, I could still fit an R2a into the front pocket.
Any opinions on the 802?
thanks

I'd second the Crumpler recommendation. I've had the part and parcel for about three years and it still looks brand new. The whole bag is padded with a separate padded compartment for the laptop. It comes in smaller sizes for smaller laptops, but in mine I can fit a laptop, books, and the better part of my Spotmatic system.

I can really recommend the Billingham Hadley bags for this. No separate padded compartment for the camera if there's a laptop in it, but otherwise perfect and it looks smart and discreet.

I met a man once...
tenba makes a combo laptop/camera bag

on that note however, I use one of those tiny domke shoulder bags tossed into a normal backpack and use that as a camera/laptop bag since shoulder bags don't agree with my back for some reason.

I've had a Courierware bag which I like. Here's the link:

If my new BBB is any indication of Courierware quality, i wouldn't hesitate to recommend them!
