Very nice pictures. I have been there years ago and love that island.
My father was balinese, but resides in Sulawesi where I was born.
Sulawesi is another impressive island in Indonesia with a variety of cultures.
I will visit Sulawesi in the future and I hope to take quality pictures of it like you did from Bali.

The tourists saw the brilliant performance...
I saw the beautiful and humble Balines girl..
Days turned into a month.

Great images. I'm glad you did the 'alternative' approach. Bali is amazing, even for us Indonesian, very different sensory experience. I spent 3 months there in my 3rd year of college for practical training. Still one of the best times in memory.

What is it that a people hold dear. A little understanding shall enable one
to learn about and respect a culture; respect a people. And maybe gain respect along the way.
Thank you for being with us.

Thank you very much. We would love to visit Sulawesi someday.

It indeed is an amazing experience. One of the best places we have visited.
Thank you both for your kind words.
Best regards.

Very good photos that capture Bali well, thank you.
For others who have not experienced this remarakble place I can only say that we Aussies are very lucky. Bali is close enough that it is simultaneously one of the least expensive and most exotic overseas trips. Its incredibly scenic, beautiful, photogenic, full of very nice local people with a great many things to see and do.
The secret is to try to avoid (for the most part) the tourist trap areas like Kuta if you are serious about finding the real Bali. Pick up a guide and driver on the beach (where there are many touting for your business. They are cheap and in my experience most are pretty good. Just make sure you negotiate a prcie (by the day) first and that you confirm what car / mini bus they will use to make sure that you are not going in a broken down old heap) And get them to take you "up country" to some villages to experience the real Bali.
Most of all check out the culture - characteristic villages, temples, shrines, religious festivals, Gamelan, Barong and Kris, Ketchak displays (look it up) volcanoes, volcanic lakes, deep river gorges, rainforest jungle and sensory overload. Its a stunning place when experienced this way.
Many expats went there to visit and simply bever came back again.

I'm fro, Indonesia and I am pleasantly surprised that someone here has ever been to my country. Bali is indeed a wonderful place and I have no hesitation staying there for long periods of time as well. Next time perhaps we can schedule a trip down together hehe..
