I am looking to get an good inexpensive ball head for my tripod. Any recommendations?
I can't see spending 2 or 3 hundred dollars for one because I will not use it very much on my smaller tripod.
Thanks

Take a peek at this:

This is the product I use:

I look at tools like this as an investment. I have a Manfrotto over 15 years old and it still works great.
Your choice and decision. Then you have to live with it.

496RC2 is what my tripod came with, and it works well, but 498RC2 with separate panning lock would be even better.

Thanks for the advice so far.
I have a larger tripod with a great 3 way head on it, but was looking for something for my smaller one.

Take a look at the Vanguard lineup. From very small to large and reasonably priced. I have a total of 4 of them.

I just picked up a "very" inexpensive ballhead to use with a new astrophotography mount (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CK8ZXLQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1):

It actually is pretty decent (I also have a much more costly Markins Q-Ball, which is extremely good). And the cost is definitely inexpensive.
