*bangs head against wall*

Stephanie,

You can get that deal from KEH. You can also get that price here in the US on eBay. That price is nothing special. That camera has brassing and is from another country. Be patient, watch, and save. Enjoy your P in the meantime. There will always be nice 7 ands 7s cameras for sale.

Keep watching eBay. I got a 7 for $70 advertised for parts. It had a hole(?) in the FLAT, UNWRINKLED steel curtain. I patched it. It is fine. It is my everyday carry around camera. My repair guy checked the registration and speeds.

I got another eBay special $250 for a perfect 7s. It has flat curtains, a good meter, and no marks on the chrome. It also had just been CLAed. My 0.95 lives on that camera. (my FED2 is now retired)

I bought a 7 B&H for ~$280 at a local camera show for a near mint item. The seller later refunded about $80 because the shutter was capping and needed a CLA.

Eh. Add the lens on there, though, and you're at a higher price than that auction, even with the shipping.

It's a pretty damn good deal. Maybe someone from across the pond could get it.

OK, I understand. Thank you.

Did you catch my comment about your photo yetsterday? The bright 'no way' signs on a local street.

I have tried that same idea with yellow and black 'don't cross' signs a a local railroad junction but can't get it as good as yours.

I also know that you like to try new things. Have you gotten into Xpro yet? E6 film in C41 chemicals.

I haven't yet but I'm planning to. One of my purchases soon will be a rotary processor...if I can get one cheap enough, that is. When that happens, I should be able to do C41 much easier and I'll have some fun with the Fuji slide film I have. But meter first. I can't shoot slide film without a meter.

Can't you C41 at the local store. Negs and CD only?

And if (when) you get into Xpro you don't need to meter the Sensia (?) E6 much beyond sunny 16 because the C41 process puts the colors way off anyway.

My Sensia is almost ten years expired and I just guess exposure, stick a label on with C41 handwritten with a marker pen, and have the shop develop it.

Have you ever read a book by or about David Bailey, or seen his photos? I ask because his technique is very similar to yours and mine, but he does portraits and fashion, whareas we do grotty chic, and you do dogs too.

Bailey liked to use infrared film for a fashion assignment, and an odd distorting cinema lens he had for photograhphing his former wife, Marie Helvin.

He spent time photographing London gangsters as well as his fashion and commercial stuff. Gritty to misty in one day I imagine.

I met him only once and found him charming and generous. He was most kind and gave me an Olympus camera as a gift.

If we're speaking of oddball lenses, I have my eye on one now. I can't tell you what it is or where it is because if I do I'm sure someone's going to try for it, but I'm watching to see if anyone bids and what it goes up to.

I've also been pondering how I could mount this 50/3.5 from my Argus C3 onto my screwmount Canon...but that's a project for another time, methinks. 😉

Processing C41 and E6 at home is just not worth the trouble IMHO.

A rotary processor helps with the boring parts of development and if you do black and white slides and that sort of thing where it's critical to have temperature constant over the whole process. If you use Rodinal, a rotary processor can be counterproductive anyway because it's a surface developer that gives better result when standing.

I use an Ilford Roller (they designed it for Cibachrome). You can put a development tank on top of it and it spins the tank. I don't use it for developing, but for fixing it's a lot more convenient. Cost me 1 EUR on eBay and is totally worth the money.

You met David Bailey? That's pretty GD cool . . .

I'm familiar with his fashion and musician photography but I've never seen his gangster stuff. I'll have to check it out.

Google 'David Bailey Kray' and you'll see the stuff. It also mention David Hemmings acting at Bailey, and I met him too with a shabby car but a pretty girl and smart home in Chelsea.
