Basic Question

I have been a lurker in this realm for sometime. I have, in my dotage, finally found the delights in medium format folders.

I would like to pursue some repairs myself, although not adverse to sending instruments off to reputable services like Mr. Ruth, Mr. Hanson, Ms. Flutot, and a couple more in the US who I cannot recall.

My problem is that the tool selection is difficult to organize and I cannot find comments relative to tools per se here.

So, any comments relative to basics like screw drivers etc, so I can open up say the Certo6 to replace the beam splitter and mirror...

To help, a list of the folder machines that might need some TLC...Konika Pearl 645, Mamiya-6 (VIb), Zeiss Ikon Mess 69, Voigtlander Bessa II 69 and a very nice Certo6.

Suffice it to say, I use all of them, develop the film and scan into digital format. (My Kodak Florolite and Nikkor enlarging lenses, etc. are under cover resting.)

Most old folders need no tools beyond thin bladed (watchmakers) screw drivers and a lens key to get at the shutter and finder system. Body repairs however tend to get complex and need a pretty extensive workshop - folders were not made for body servicing and generally were riveted.

I am still working on getting into my Certo6 to replace the splitter and mirror...none of my cameras have body damage...just a sluggish shutter on the Mamiya and the Certo6 issues.

I will just order from the Micro place some small screw drivers that I do not have, and a spanner wrench...small...thanks again...

Wiha Picodrive are the best screwdrivers I've come across for the job.

For Japanese cameras you may well need JIS screwdrivers.... but that's for later, unless someone''s really fudged with your Certo!

Out-friggen-standing. Thanks, and thanks Muggins, am all over both. Certo is near pristine and untouched...as far as I can see.
