Didn't see a thread on this yet but having just gotten a Ricoh GR ~ along with a generic battery mislabeled as a "DB-65" that doesn't fit ~ has anyone found any reliable sources for extra batteries?

I would buy the OEM battery, even at the ridiculous price, if it were in stock anywhere. But finding a good $10 battery would be so much better!

I use wasabi batteries from amazon. It turns out that the same battery is also used on the sigma dp Merrill cameras that I have.

Some of the generic batteries labelled db65 will not fit the dp Merrill as well including the wasabi. The reason is the battery latch on the dp Merrill is a tad tighter then the db65 was designed for.. I don't know about the gr since I already filed down the wasabi db65 battery to fit the sigma before I bought the gr. the ones branded for the dp Merrill are a bit thinner and fit fine.

Hmm the photo of them shows an entirely different side profile that is more rounded off than the Ricoh DB-65 battery. I don't doubt you but it doesn't look like they have the same casing.

Oppps correction.. I just double check.. The batteries I needed to file the corner were not wasabi, but some other third party I picked up at amazon. The wasabi db65 fits fine.

Sorry for confusion.. If u want a good battery charger pick up the wasabi package that as two batteries and charger. Pretty good deal.

Ok here is a set of three shots side, top and bottom profile. Ricoh is on the left, wasabi center and sigma on the right.

Quick and ugly iPhone pics

I bought the Wasabi batteries mentioned above. I haven't had them very long. They seem okay, but I had an issue while out shooting today. Last night I checked my batteries (2 wasabi, 1 ricoh), One of the wasabi's didn't power on the camera. So, I charged it. Today while shooting with a wasabi battery the camera powered down without a warning, at least I didn't notice one. I thought it was still around half full. Anyway, then I put in the other wasabit battery that I charged last night, nothing happens. Then the Ricoh battery, and it comes back on.
So, not sure what's up. I'm trying to charge it again now and try it out.

Hmm have not any problems like that w/ mine. Occasionally, I don't seem to get as many shots w/ them as the OEM. I am not sure why.. I number my batteries. For example, I think it was battery number 4. It lasted half as long as expected but the next time I used it.. It was fine.
