California (Bay Area, Northern) Bay Area Beer & Gear?

Wish you had made it Steve but I would have made the same call if I lived your distance away. It was a total miracle it didn't pour.

We should all hit this location again though, fun area to walk around and some interesting spots to shoot. The little cafe is a nice place to kick back and chat as well.

I would like to give thanks to everyone who came out today!

Kevin, Thanks for organizing a great rain free day out.

Not many pictures yet as all but two I took were on film.
(attached is one of those from the E-P1 + 20mm)

Kent - nice pics : those from GRDIIs B+W mode ?

Donald.

Donald- Nope, those are the Noritsu drug store specials from the G2. I'll pop up the GRDII shots tomorrow to the same location (after the Super Bowl of course).

Kent

PS- Since you're new to the US make sure you find a fun place to watch the Super Bowl. It's a fun slice of Americana with the best commercials of the year (and most expensive).

Got that covered (apartment complex party) - sounds like the side show is going to be better than the main show.

Oh man. I just returned from an evening of beer drinking at the Trappist. I feel demolished!! Pictures in a few days, I need to relax and develop my film. :)

thanks to everyone again! By far the best birthday I have enjoyed in a number of years.

Donald you're welcome. Love the photo from the EP1. I look like I'm stalking prey!

Kent -- loved the sweep image, and the 'man the walls' photo -- odd OOF shot but wonderfully dreamy bokeh.

Here's the "ouch" story from that day. I was standing on one of the pillars on the top floor of Fort Mason getting some shots. I finished my last shot on the roll and started to reload. A strong gust of wind knocked me back and I lost my grip on the camera. Watched the camera fall and heard a loud crack when it hit the floor.

Fort Mason=1, M3=0

Side caved in, frame counter broken, film advance broken. Lens still works though!

ouch

Besides that it was a great day out. It was a little cloudy early on but it cleared up into a really nice day. Plus it was great meeting the crew and walking around that day.

We did luck out with the weather, who would have guessed it! Fun day, great to see some familiar faces and meet some new participants as well!

There's a "ouch" gear story to be told but I'll leave that for others to describe. Loved using my Contax G2 with the 35-70mm zoom. Such a fun camera to use!

I'll pop up some pics later tonight :)

Thanks again to everyone for making it a relaxing day!

Kent

Darren,

Still thinking about that poor M3. The pic doesn't even quite portray how nasty that dent really is.

Let us know what you do with the camera, I'm curious to see which way you go. Like I said, we've all done it so I certainly empathize.

Great seeing you again and shooting a bit!

OMG Darren!! Poor M3!! I caved in and went to darkroom instead yesterday. I had no idea what was going on there. Yeah keep us posted what you do with the M3.

Feel better soon...

Darren, I have the tools to remove the top cover if you want to try work on getting it into shape. I'll be coming through the city at the end of the week and can drop them off.

OK, this could get interesting. If there's dis-assembly we definitely need pics.

Personally I'm too chicken to take a camera apart. Car, yes. Motorcycle, yes. Camera, nope.

Mike, I think I'll take you up on that offer.

Though my track record of taking apart cameras isn't very good. Every time I do that I always end up with some "extra" parts.

That sucks, Darren. What a drop. Wish I could help...well actually, I'm selling a M4P.... Good luck on the disassembly. I hope all goes well.

Hey Darren, I'll be heading through S.F. this weekend. When I know exactly when I'll drop you a line.
