California (Bay Area, Northern) Bay Area Visit

Ok, there hasn't been any response from the guys at ksphoto, I guess I'll walk in there and take a look. My plans have changed slightly and I'll be arriving there on 18th.

RayPA, Roland: Shall we meet on 20th instead? I have a late dinner/BBQ appointment that night, but I am free the whole day. I am working on the 27th weekend. :( RayPA, beer & gear sounds good. Though, I was looking forward to trying some wine.

Honus: maybe the next time. Looks like I may need to make frequent trips there this year.

pbhome: I can source D76 locally, and some of the Ilford stuff. It's the raw chemicals that are hard to get. I am staying in the bay area close to Sunnyvale.

Ash, I'm not available on the 20th or the 21st, but don't schedule around me! :) I'm here year round! :D If the 20th works for you an Roland, then do it!

Ash,

My office is in Sunnyvale. If you want to go to KSP, we can go together.

I'll PM you my cell phone number.

Emails to K&S usually go unanswered. The best way to get ahold of the darkroom department is to call them. Your most likely to speak to Ernie, hes really friendly to chat with. Has great stories too.

Photographer's Supply at 436 Bryant Street. Should have everything you need.
Vic

Thanks. They seem like a fun bunch.

Sure thing. I'll contact you once I am there.

Looking Glass

Looking Glass

Does Looking Glass in Berkeley carry photo chemicals? It's been years since I've been there.

/

Ray- we do, I just need to remember to check and see if we have everything Naruto needs. I know we have sodium sulphite, not sure about the metol or the sodium metaborate. I'll try to remember to check when I'm working next (wednesday). Mostly we have the photographers formulary chems, kits and raw chemicals both. And we have the darkroom supply (bottles etc) too.

Robert (Honus): Introduce yourself sometime when you're in the shop. While I hate describing myself this way, it definitely works: I'm the short blond guy with glasses. I'm usually working behind the counter 4 days or so a week, when i'm not hidden in the darkroom.

Naruto, I'll check and see if we have the chemicals you need in stock, but sorry I won't be around for your visit (out of town most of june), but there's plenty of RFF'ers around the area, I'm sure you'll find a few to meet up with.

Brian - Of course, I know you now. Not too many blondes behind the counter, as I recall. I hope you don't mind that I misrepresented your chemical stock. If you have a chance, please join us Saturday at the Robert Frank exhibit at SFMOMA. We'll be assembling at 1 pm at the Cafe in front.

Randy - I hope you can make it.

Alan - I look forward to seeing you again.

Mike - Yes, it runs on batteries. However, it also has a back-up rubber band propulsion system. Quite efficient.

Robert, wish I could make it, unfortunately saturday's one of the day's that I AM behind the counter @ LG. (and by the time the other group is meeting on the 13th, I'll be in the Netherlands with my family, visiting my in-laws and showing off the baby to pretty much everyone we can. :) won't be back until july). One of these days I'll actually make it to a beer+gear. Just not quite yet... :(

Brian, Photo Formulary does list metol, sulphite and balanced alkali. Is it possible to get in the stuff? Could you drop me a PM pm this? thanks. :)

Hi Brian,
Thanks for posting your description! I bought the Gossen Luna Pro from you during the recent sidewalk sale, if you remember. It works great, much appreciated,
Mike

Looking glass photo 2 blocks north of Ashby's Bart has tons of chemicals there. Staff there's very helpful too! (look for Cha, big black lady with locks)

Ash- PM sent (yesterday) :) Sorry I'll miss you when you're in town though.

MikeL- I have to say... the sidewalk sale is a bit of a blur to me now. I worked the tables outside most of the day both days, on the hottest weekend we've had in a while! ...and while I remember showing some people the meters... I Don't quite remember who I sold what to.... Glad it's working out for you though! The Luna-Pro's are great, although mine got traded years ago for a Luna-Star F2...

Trev, thanks for recommending us at LG!

-Brian
