A bit of a last minute question here - I know there are a couple of people round here from Germany. We are heading for a week-long break in Southern Bavaria (near Traunstein, Oberbayern). I've been passing through those parts a couple of time - which is the reason why we decided on this location - but I don't know the country round there thoroughly. Could anyone point some spots, locations, or otherwise interesting bits to visit and to take pictures of, I'd be very thankful. I'm interested in both landscapes and "human-scapes"...

I have been in Bavaria many times, and will be there in August.
I usually stay close to Ichenhausen, and drive to Salzburg (Austria) and Northen Italy, across the Alps.

Bavaria has hundreds of wonderful, small villages spread around. I would try an online search with virtual tourist.

Chiemsee, with his islands and castles (and don´t forget the regular steam tramway from Prien station to Prien habour) Hop to Salzburg city. Visit the Hallein salt mines ....
