beards...a curiosity

Ponytail here too. Never could grow much of a beard (too sparce), but the ponytail is long enough I could probably put the end of it in my pants pockets.

C,

I frequently get asked if I'm a "Pro" photographer or an artist, likely because I stand out in a crowd, or because the way I handle myself.

My gal is a celeb fashion blogger, and it really annoys her when I get asked if I'm a "Pro" or artist and I say, "I'm only a guy with a pony tail with a day-job."

I really downplay trying to be famous, although I would say I'm widely known. Fame like my gal has is a pain, and the constant public view and lack of privacy I would not wish on anyone. I hate all the intrusions, interuptions, and all the judgements.

If anything I want to be known for is my images and my printing. I would rather remain invisible otherwise.

So is beard oil also for the purpose of shaving off one's beard? I'm so confused.

B,

Beard oil is like a conditioner after you wash your hair. It softens and moisturizes facial hair. Can also add body and fullness.

As a bicycle racer I use to shave my legs. My beauty secrete is after washing my legs, and while still wet, using hair conditioner as my lubricant for shaving my legs.

BTW it seems to me that it is long beards that benefit from Beard Oil. My arrogant chin beard and stash are trimmed too short to benefit from using Beard Oil.

Back on topic: Shaved legs on men are kinda sexy. LOL. Anyways it seems many women respond well to muscular clean shaven legs. Kinda annoyed my sister though.

In high school and college I fancied that I would become an actor. At age 19 I was in a college production of Macbeth, and the director told all the guys in the show to stop shaving and let our faces get as hairy as they might. That was 27 years ago. I have shaved my face three or four times since then, and each time I do, my mother or my girlfriend or now my wife has said something along the lines of "Oh right. Yeah, you look better with a beard." 🙁 😀

Maybe one day I will shave my face again, just to freak out my kids.

You DO look better with a beard." 🙁

Drew,

People forget that cutting your hair, letting it grow, and how drastically how one can change their identity by say just shaving.

Thanks for the laugh.

I`m shocked .
Grooming standards have clearly slipped on here over the years .
Myself I always make sure that I`ve had a shave and wear a collar and tie before I post on this forum. 🙂

Yeah, but he only wears a collar and tie, everything else is left free to dangle. 😀

What a delightful roll call!

Scrolling through, though, I feel a bit like I'm reading a transcript from porch talk at the 1891 Civil War Photographer Society Reunion.

What about a 21st C. roll call on...piercings? tats? Or, to stick with the Samson/Delilah historical flavor, styles of circumcision!

Here I am with Linn last week at the Met. Though my chin patch is obscured by semi-proper RF technique (one eye closed, both should be open), you can see my lip-line mustache courtesy of a 1924 Gillette double-bladed razor.

Finally, a bit of testimony re shaving: Skip the soap and canned foam Use a schmear of good skin cream--I prefer lemon--and once you're done shaving, rub it in. Your throat and cheeks will thank you.

While in the shower I take about 4 drops, Pat it on, new cheap razor. Every morning and sometimes evening. Just like grandpa sans foam and double sided blades. Easy if you keep up with it. Boss and customers are very pleased I think. I learned to shave (quickly and dry) in boot camp.
