Just heard on my car radio - tomorrow it's exactly forty years since the Beatles walked across that 'Zebra' crossing - for the cover of the Abbey Road album, I don't have it, but wonder who the photog was that took the picture , anyone know?....genuine question! ( and nobody say - Al K. ;) )
Dave.

Iain MacMillan - he'd done the mad day out too, i think.

Took 15 minutes to shoot, based on a sketch by McCartney. Russ Gibb, a Detroit DJ, noticed that Paul had no shoes and decided he was dead...

.
Still got my old Beatles LP's and of course a Beatles Box in excellent unworn condition.

Iconic shot. Anyone know what camera was used? Amazing they could take the shot with so few people/cars around.

This thread made me want to learn more and through the power of "google" I learnt that the photographer was on a step ladder in the middle of the road. The whole shoot took 15mins. You can see behind John a police van with a man standing next to it. Can you believe they have traced the guy, who was an American tourist, waiting in the street for his wife to come out of a museum.
