Or perhaps it should be "Bear and Gear"?
bobkonos and I are planning on doing some photography along the 4th Street corridor in Berkeley on Sunday, April 19.
We're thinking of driving or training down in the a.m., although plans haven't jelled beyond that.
Other SF Bay Area RFF'ers are welcome to join us, and we'd love to have the event "evolve" into a Beer and Gear meet (particularly since we were unable to join the last one, and can't easily get down to the Bay Area from Sacto for weekday meets).
The Pyramid Ale House on Gilman St. would be one logical location for the beer portion, although we're open to other suggestions.
I also posted an invite over at the Rangefinder Forum SF Bay Area group on Flickr. Expressions of interest so far from Ray and Randy.
Any others care to join?

I'll have to check but it sounds good. I want to finally get together with the group.

Do you Cali folks mind if we Canuck folks use the "Beer and Gear" moniker for our get togethers?

I also like it. If there is no problem, we'd like to use it in Philly as well. :<)

You've got permission to use it.

This sounds fun. If it could somehow get closer to SF or the Peninsula, I'd try to make it.

Why 4th Street?
Nice mixture of retail shops, cafes, pedestrian activity up towards the University Ave. end, and older industrial buildings down closer to Gilman; 5th street has good photo subjects too. Interesting mix, quite different from areas closer to the campus. Also, parking is less of a problem down there.

Hi Steve, I really appreciate that you guys are coming down most of the way. I am going to try to make it. Will have better confirmation towards the end of week.

I'll try to be there. I think on Saturday I'm going up 101 towards Santa Rosa to work on my top-secret (hahaha) LF pinhole project, but Sunday I'm free. (At least, the missus hasn't informed me of any inviolable plans yet, so chances are quite good.)

Allow me to add that if you have any items to sell or trade, this can easily be a Beer/Gear/Swap event. As more beer flows the deals get more interesting. And we can find a big enough table at Pyramid to accomodate.
Another thought: as we know better who can make it, it is nice to bring lenses and camera bodies for others to try. I know I'd like to try Ray's Winongrand Canon 28f2.8, so I'll have an adapter with me to use on a Leica M (probably my M6). And I may bring my R4M with Leica 21f2.8 attached. But if Kent and Mike L. are MIA on this meeting, I may have to step up and be the sole Nikon RF user.

Here's the plan: meet at Peet's Coffee on Fourth Street in Berkeley at 10 am on Sunday April 19. Coffee and Cameras will meld into No Fear of Gear as we walk around and shoot and visit. Then Beer and Gear Lunch a bit after that, probably at Pyramid Alehouse on Gilman but other possibilities, too. Bring stuff to sell or trade if you like, too. Bingley and I are looking forward to it.
