California (Bay Area, Northern) Beer & Gear in Berkeley, April 19?

I think Ken's suggestion of a taqueria is easy to do: Picante is a terrific place and is located on Sixth a block south of Gilman, so it is a perfect spot. ken likes my vote for a screwmount camera day-seeing Mike L's Steampunk again got me to take out and load my Leica IIIf RD last night. Anyone else interested in that? We could have a "Screw Beer and Gear" real soon, wherein we bring threadmount cameras and lenses. How many threadmount Nikon lenses will show up???

Bingley and I can host a Sacramento RFF meeting but let's do it before the heat hits in late June. Otherwise the "Beer and Gear" becomes a "Roast and Toast."

I am still laughing at the new name for the next meeting. Too funny.

I'd be up for breaking out the IIIG. I wonder if the O-Series can be considered a screw mount, I'd rather shoot that :)

Sounds like you all had fun,sorry I missed it! Look forward tot he next get together.

Yeah, "screw beer and gear" does sound a bit odd. And gee, what about us that don't have any Leica Thread Mount (LTM) screw mount cameras? Do we broaden to allow LTM lenses on M mount cameras? Or should we bring our old Pentax Takumar screw mount gear instead? Or should we really mix things up and bring our FSU contax mount gear? Decisions, decisions...

Randy: it's the people not the gear that make it. Those who can should bring LTM cameras and lenses and then others can try them. Then the next meeting becomes "A Few Screw Beer and Gear."

Kent: bring the IIIG and I'll bring my IIIf RD. We can share some Canon lenses, too, and pretend we are 1957 press photographers, waiting for Thelonious Monk to leave the Five Spot for a smoke between sets.

And to set the record straight, Bingley really got that meeting going by starting the thread. Thanks Steve!

Thanks, Bob! :eek::)

That was a great day, guys! It was terrific to meet Ken, Jamie, and Randy, to hang w/ the legendary hipster, RayPA, and to admire Mike's Steampunk once again. It was not so great to deal w/ the sunburn I got... note to self: next time, wear a hat, dammit! :mad:

Very cool shots, Randy -- thanks for posting. I've got a backlog of b&w to soup, but I may start w/ the rolls from Sunday, and will post as soon as I can. The graffiti was definitely a high point, photographically. Sorry I missed the security guard, though. :rolleyes:

A screw-beer and gear day definitely sounds in order. My Canon P has been pining for attention. And, yes, y'all need to come up to Sacto! We even have good brew pubs here. :D
