California (Bay Area, Northern) Beer & Gear in Berkeley, April 19?

just RF stuff? Anyone want or bring Nikon SLR stuff? or want to try/swap for a Vivitar 1.9/35 M42 lens? (w/K adapter and F adapter - F doesn't focus to infinity, but does some very cool lensbaby stuff).

I also have a few Russian RF lenses, anyone interested?

I have a Nikon F mount 200mm Vivitar (NOT a Series 1, alas) which I will happily GIVE AWAY to anyone what wants it. Just give a hollar, and I'll try to find it and put it in my bag for Sunday.

bumping this one more time...

bumping this one more time...

It looks like we're set for this Sunday, per bobkonos's last post above. :)

See you at Peets on 4th Street in Berkeley at 10:00 am! Looks like we may see Ray, Randy, Ted, Kevin, and maybe some others too? Mike? Roland? Hope you guys can make it.

How long do you think you guys will be around? I might have to miss it, since I already have a commitment for the morning/early afternoon... :(
-Brian

Jamie! Good to hear from you. It will be a pleasure to meet you!

Brian -- Thanks for bumping again. I hope you can join us, but if not we'll organize another meet up soon!

bobkonos is now frantically trying to decide which of his Ms to bring along. :D

heh... jamie's the only one of you guys I've actually met... :)
(well, and michael bialecki, who doesn't live in the bay anymore, but visited a while back)

I'm in Cali right now but working practically constantly. I'm in NoCal right now in Calistoga... i wish I could make it down to where you guys are but its practically impossible. I got no free time at all. :\

Can't make it unfortunately. Have to do a fasting glucose test with mom in RWC, and have relatives down from Seattle this weekend. Hope to catch up with you guys soon. Post photos!

Steve, Bob, Randy, Ken, Mike, Ray,
Thanks for travelling to the East Bay. I really enjoyed finally seeing the faces that go with the names. And getting to heft all that beautiful gear was a pleasure as well. I look forward to meeting in your neck-of-the-woods for another "B & G" event. Now I have to get back to counting my pixels. :)
Jamie

Nice to see everyone, and nice to meet you Ken. I hope no one got out of control at the brewery.

Speaking of that, I must admit that when I said I had to leave early to go work, it was really due to my concern about the, umm, debauchery that sometimes happens when Randy and Ray get drinking together. Steve and Bob, I hope your combined moderating influence helped keep things respectable.

We were all well-behaved...honest. Great to meet up again, see new faces (Jamie, Randy, Ken), meet stalwarts (Ray, Mike L) and share the enjoyment we get from photography and the gear. Ken treated us to the cleanest Leica M2-R I have ever seen. I found out Randy and I share interests in audio and classic cars. It was good fun and will be done again (let's meet in SF for the Robert Frank show at SFMOMA and a tour of the new Jewish Museum nearby).

When I got home my shelf queen S3-2000 asked me why it was left at home. The chrome MP gloated, the R2S blushed, and you can guess what I'll bring next time we meet...

Thanks again, Bob, for setting this up and to you and Steve for driving all the way in from Sacramento.

Was great to meet some more RFF folks and to catch up with those I've met before.

Here's a link to some of my shots from yesterday: http://www.flickr.com/photos/randygard/sets/72157617109791016/. Sorry about the low resolution (flickr seems to lower the resolution a bit) and the poor Walgreen's scans.

Looking forward to our next get together!

Definitely a good time. The light got a little ugly afternoon, but what fun! I'm still up for going back and bribing that security guard. I'll pitch in a Jackson! Great to see everyone again and meet other RFFers.

Camera of the day was the M2R. Yummy!

Nice shots, Randy. Aah, the mighty LX3!! That graffiti shot is really nice. BUT...
Here's My Favorite (hee hee)!

Yep, that's one of my favorites as well, Ray. I just emailed you a higher res copy for your office wall... ;)

Hey, that was fun. Sure hope everyone got out alive - I was a little worried about getting run over either by a train or a shopping cart. Yes, I bring out the M2-R once a year for a little fresh air whether it needs it or not. Naw...I had a blast, so it will be out again for the next one. I think the idea of a screw-mount trek would be great. I might go back to Berkeley again, too, with an XPan to get those walls of graffiti.
Great meeting all of you. Maybe next time we can find a little taqueria con cerveza. Hopping the train up to Sacto would be fun too. We could go over to the capital and shoot tax protestors or lobbyists or lawyers or other criminal elements. Ooops...sorry.
I'll post shots soon as I can remember how top open up these friggin canisters.
