Hello there! thats for your reply. This is my first message and I was hoping to get some guidance on how to use this forum. and yes, this is M3 that i am referring to, as i hope to removal both top and bottom plate and attempt to spray paint it black...........any word of advise? cheers 😉

Hi and welcome to the forum. If you want information on removing the top plate on an M3 take a look at Kim Coxons website in (link in the members list) which has an M service guide.The rewind knob is held on by the screw in it's centre: the one with the two red dots. You need a special tool with pins to fit in the holes. Removing the top plate, however, is not a job for the faint hearted: It requires several specialised tools and, unless you're really confident at working on cameras it's a job probably best left to a specialist.
