Beoon as scanner-Experiences?

Hi, i´m sorry if this question shouldn´t be here, i really don´t know where to post it.

I´ve purchased a beoon device, it´s intended for 1:1 photo ratio.

I´m planning to use it as a scanner with my m9.

I think i can make a good file with these things.

Has anyone experience in doing this kind of procedure?

Would be nice to hear from you and get advice on how to get the best out of it!

It sure ought to work, if you get hold of a good light source (for example, Multiblitz used to make a flash illuminated slide duplicator table). But focus is very critical if you want to achieve the full pixel resolution at that scale - I don't think that setting it up once and photographing lots of negatives or slides without further control or focusing will deliver satisfactory results.

My DSLR-as-digitizer experiments already had significant problems with de-adjustment through vibration - and that was a comparatively static and untouched rig. Going by that, all the manipulation and vibration when you swap the loupe for the camera before exposure might make a serious mess of the required sub-µm focus precision. If results are not satisfactory, a BEOON with the loupe replaced by a Visoflex (I've seen a similar device in hospital use - but that should double the extension, perhaps that was another Leica product?) or buying an adapter and some cheap live view capable EVIL camera (or a M240 if you have money to burn) might allow for better focusing and less tampering before you fire the trigger.

Chris, i did see that blog, it was interesting but i expected a bit more on resolution results.


Sevo, i think focus as tyou mention is critical for optimum results.

I chose th beoon outfit because was the more complex design of 1:1 ratio photos.

The other copiers didn´t have the loupe of the beoon,

I hope the beoon´s loupe will be enough for focusing.

After all i depend and trsut the leitz expertise when it comes to precision devices such as this one 🙂

LEt´s see waht comes up...i hope it will be here before a month!
