I think I couldn't agree less...

+1 here too. Including the measure and the brevity, because to go further would be inappropriate and pointless. Indeed, as David Hare might have it, and paraphrasing Adorno whom he quoted: "Anything you can say about Berlin is too much and not enough." My best friend lives there and I love the energy and youth of the city.

cool stuff, georg :)

Oh well, it is lacking a bit in terms of composition and proper depth of field. I am still looking for a way to get decent low light pictures and switched to xtol for these purposes for now, but I still do not have it right.

I thought this one may somehow fit into the thread. :)

Camera shops...

Camera shops...

This is such a great thread for asking camera-ish questions, so where would you suggest I go looking for if I want an evil Exakta SLR camera body, and perhaps a 75/1.9 Primoplan to go with it ? :)

Looks like I'll be in the city from nov 18 to 24. Not sure what I'll do besides hitting exotic food places (no such things in Istanbul) and practicing my suffering German...

Wenn ihr bock habt, dann gemma was ordentliches trinken...

:D

My girlfriend and I visit Berlin from this saturday till wednesday. Don't know much about the place as it is today and did very little 'research/preparation' but I think that's how I like it.

Some insider advise on 'things to do' this weekend is ofcourse very welcome

depends on what you like to do. It's the month of photography and there are plenty good exhibitions all over berlin. For the night time the districts of Friedrichshain & Kreuzberg are always worth a visit.

I think I saw an Exakta at DasLabor (Fuldastraße 56) recently.

For used camera gear, Foto Braune (Karl-Marx-Str. 7) or Foto Schilling (Kantstraße 87) may also be interesting.

Thanks! Today I also saw a few camera stuffs for sale at the Ostbahnhof flea market, but they were already wrapping up as I went there, so I had no real chance to check what would have been available..

Yep, there is also used camera stuff at the flea market Mauerpark. Polaroids seemed to be quite popular during the summer. Make sure to check the cameras carefully. The shops mentioned above should give you a warranty.

The first time I enter the travel page and what do I see??

I'm living in Berlin, too - SO61 to be more precise. My Leica hardly sees the world outside of the bag due to my current Rolleiflex addiction. Hopefully I can join you guys someday.

alright, so Georg and I are meeting this saturday or sunday afternoon, probably in the late afternoon, probably somewhere in kreuzberg. anyone else? :)

Hey, I might be interested, Kreuzberg is just across the river for me. I am thinking Sunday would be nicer due to the latest weather forecasts - meaning Saturday is looking like the same kind of drabness as Friday was.
..and it would be nice to have enough photo opportunities to get the Superia1600 in my camera shot through, so I can go back to shoting some b&w - I have just unpacked enough so that I can develop film myself again... :)

I'm coming to Berlin from Miami, Florida, in a month. Already msg Simon. Keep me in mind if you folks want to meet the weekend of 4 & 5 Dec. or during the early part of the week that follows. I'm staying in Mitte.

I might be able to join you on Sunday as well. I just have to see about my university assignments... And I would need someone to sell me a roll of film for my Canonet, since I'm all out of film

I just fished out the moving box that contains all of my film, and seems that while I am sorely lacking in the fast b/w department, I do have plenty of colour negative film at all speeds... so what do you need?
