Very Excited I got a smoking ($300) deal on this enlarger with the Universal 45 color head, 35mm, 6x7, and 4x5 diffusers. It came with the lenses in the following pics. I haven't done much developing of anything larger than a 35mm so far, but plan to do some 6x6 from my Hasselblad soon. What lenses would you more knowledgable folks use for each format/print size?

Schneider 40mm APO Componon 2.8
Schneider 90mm APO Componon f4
105mm APO Rodagon N

Also, being that I have the color controller with this, is there a standardized amount of Y or M that would be the equivalent of different paper grades?

Also, out of curiosity does anyone have any idea what this entire set up SHOULD sell for? I have a feeling I basically stole it. I have a feeling the older gentleman I purchased it from just wanted to see it go to a good home.

The 40mm is one of the best enlarging lenses for large 35mm enlargements. The 90 and 105mm lenses are medium format enlarging lenses; the 90 covers 6x7 and the 105 covers 6x9.

Sweet deal - whoever originally purchased the lenses, went for the good stuff. Those are all labelled as APO - which are a step up from what I use.

About settings of yellow and magenta for VC printing, this article by Paul Butzi (whose web site is different now that he has moved to inkjet printing) suggests a method of calibration. It's worth a read, even if you don't feel like diving in 100% just now. I have adapted the method for a 2-tube Aristo VCL4500 VC head (different hardware, same procedure for keeping printing times constant when altering contrast. The alternative is a bit trial and error)
