Why not?
Perhaps my Bessa with my own name written on top?
The leather (or rather plastic mold) in burgundy red?
I suppose that would defeat of the purpose of owning a Bessa,
that is it is an extremely afforadable alternative.

Acutually, there is only one thing I really want.
I really wish the Voigtlander logo was embossed into the top plate,
filled with white ink.
Wonder how much that would add to costs?
Anyone agree?

Replace the Bessa with the embossed Voigtlander and the Bessa model on the top plate so the photog can see which one of the many he is using. Can be confusing when you have more than one, haha!

That's a great idea. but of course ala carte means ala carte pricing.

How many of you want to pay $4000 for your Bessa ?

Stephen
oh, ME, ME!!!! ah I do get lots of bodies right? and it comes with lots of lenses too, correct 😀

The sad truth is that if Voigtlander offered such an engraving service they would keep having to deal with people asking for their name to be engraved...you know, "Leica MP"

err...don't flatter yourself. 😛

I would be happy to see a "Voightlander A La Carte" if the options were related to the functions of the cameras.
Different engravings I couldn't care less about.
Meter reading only the area of the RF patch, that I would pay more for!
VF magnification choice up to me, that I would pay more for!
Frame-line choice up to me, that I would pay more for!
And, yes, I would be happy to be able to choose the finish color and the "leather" type/color. And pay more for.
Custom engraving in and of itself, that I don't care about.

There is nothing wrong with Voigtlanders. I was merely commenting that silly people do exist who like to change badges...like putting M3 badges on their BMW 316...I am also sure there are many Voigtlander owners who would love an MP who are not daft enough to do what I suggested...

My comment had nothing to do with self-flattery. I could not give a rat's @ss about the 'prestige of Leica ownership'. My comment was clearly a dig at those who do. You seem quite tetchy about a perceieved superiority complex on my part, which I find quite amusing. I also drive a 1992 Toyota if that makes you feel any better. As always people will see what they want to see in others. Perhaps I should have said, "Zeiss I" to avoid setting you off again...

The car rebadging thing originated in Germany for people who bought a top of the range car and had basic badges to hide their affluence.

Perhaps German people buy a Leica MP a la carte and have it engraved 'Voigtlander R3M'?

Understated has always been my preference rather than 'bling'! The above affect the resale value a tad tho!

I guess the badgeless option is some help, but for leica its a la carte at $80. Mind you then you can go for matt black and with the Mp there is no badge anyway. I doubt there are many street muggers who would be able to make the leap. Add a beaten up brown case and you are sorted! A factory 'brassed option' where the thing looks like it has been selectivly sandblasted and pulled behind a speeding car would be best though.....any takers?

Leica charge $80 to 'not do' the std leica script on the MP and then $250 to add a few lines with the full scroll- who are they kidding? I spose it looks nice.

The real cost of interupting efficient production on a camera like the R series is likely to be quite a bit higher than we realise....Having the top case removed and seperately engraved, then reassembled might be cheaper!

I quite like the idea someone posted before of a mint green/sky blue/pink finish with matching vinyl leatherette. It would look like a Barbie camera - any takers?

That would be wonderful.
21, 25, 28, 35, 40, 50, 75, 90, in one body?
Possible?
Would it be a mess?
I dunno . . . but it would certainly be convenient.

😛 The R4M sort of solves that problem, well partly.

Think about how hard it would be to focus through 90mm framelines with a .5x magnification 🙁
