I have just been informed by the importer of the price for the Bessa III .

$3250 AUD including GST is what the it will cost in Australia.

This is a long way from the "about $1300" I was told late last year.

Too rich for me I think.

Wow! That's expensive.

I was hoping to purchase this camera but not for that price. A Mamiya 7 in good quality is looking like a much better option.

I wonder who the perceived market is for that price.

I'm assuming this price is via Mainline Photo?

I feel a little sorry for Scott at Mainline Photographics ... he sort of stuck his neck out and predicted a much better price on the folder then had the rug pulled out from under him by events beyond his control!

At $3250.00 he will struggle to move many IMO!

Must agree with you Keith. I would have streched it out to a couple of grand but at $3250 no thanks. But with the M mount 15 Heliar on the way and the new zoom viewfinder I expect I'll be doing business with Scott later this year.

It May Be Cheaper...............

It May Be Cheaper...............

It may be cheaper for us Aussies to look at what prices we can obtain it for overseas?

Anything over $2000AUD is a stretch for me and I suspect most of my other RF enthusiastic countrymen.

There is always the possibility of the Hong Kong price slashers making it available at a cheaper price - I hope.

I am sure Scott has done his best to make the price as affordable as possible - Mainlinephoto seem really good like that. Their overheads are probably smaller than many 'boutique' camera stores too.

I know that have moved quite a few already (would love to know numbers!) and I reckon he'll be exporting units also depending on our dollar and OS prices. Certainly the price on Cameraquest seems pretty good considering, so not many to the US.

Like others here (we've almost ALL said this!) at around US$1500 it would be a different ball game :) I would LOVE one but happy to stick with the Hassy system and build upon it. I know they are chalk and cheese but the price is too daunting.
