Just got mine and after I loaded my first roll I couldn't wait to take my first shot. Framed, focused, shot and thought something was wrong but I was able to wind to the next frame. Evidently the shutter is so quiet you more or less feel it more than hear it. Makes my Leica sound like a thunderball.

Leaf shutters are. Can't understand the nonsense perpetrated re: Leicas having quiet shutters. They do, indeed, sound like thunderballs compared to even a noisy leaf shutter like the Compur Rapid or a #0 Synchro Compur.

Then again, I've never shot a Nikon F. I only own a Asahi Pentax S1a with a Leica-style cloth shutter. So a screwmount Leica or even an M still sound very loud to me. The price one needs to pay for detachable lenses! (unless one owns a Contaflex, of course)

Just picked mine up two nights ago and yes the shutter was so quiet... the quietest I've heard yet from any of my cameras including the M8 in stealth mode.

Have to look at the film counter

Have to look at the film counter

I've had three of the Fuji GA645Zi cameras with the zoom lens, AF, metering, etc.

In all three, I learned that I could not hear the shutter and film transport in normal outdoor environmental noise. I had to look at the shutter count to see if the shot was taken.

Indoors was better, but, oh so quiet.

Contrary to that the big fuji rangefinders are real clankers. I've heard it said that the film count mechanism is the culprit.

Hi Kuzano,

Just in case you weren't aware, there is a setting on the GA645Zi which enables an electronic beep to indicate and exposure being made. Hope that helps!
