Since this is a recurring problem with this particular model I popped the base plate and tried to solve it myself. It's an easy repair repair requiring a pair of tweezers (locking tweezers work best) and a set of mini screwdrivers.

When you pop the base plate, it's pretty obvious to see what's out of whack. There's a long arm that extends from the area under the shutter to the film advance mechanism. In my case, the arm was off of its setting and the small gear that ratchets the film advance was out of alignment. Both can be reset with tweezers and a mini flat head screwdriver. Just be careful not to pop the spring located under the shutter on the long arm.

Trust me, this is easy. I'm usually all thumbs when it comes to these things, but it worked and I was shooting again in no time.

Good luck,
Jonathan

Thats good to know and i'll certainly keep this in mind. So far no problems. Plus I try and never hurry to my next frame. I think this is where alot of the jamming problems arise from.

Apologies for the thread necromancy, but I've encountered a jammed shutter on my R3A and was hoping to find a solution from the flickr photos. But when I try to click on the link Flickr tells me that the photos have been marked 'Private'. Is there any way to access these photos?
