Hi!
I want to switch my Nokton 50mm f/1.5 Asph to Leica 50mm f/2.8 Elmar-M due to its smaller size. So, has anyone ever try to mount a Leica 50mm f/2.8 Elmar-M (current version) and fully collapse into a R2 body?

I just did exactly what you are proposing, and for the same reaon! The leica lens collapses just fine into my Bessa R2, R3A and Epson R-D1. It's a superb little lens.

pab, thank you! 🙂

My Elmar 50/2.8 hits the ledge ahead of the shutter in my R2a if the lens is collapsed set to just about any distance other than the minimum distance. And collapsed, the lens is not nearly as small as the older Elmars were on Leica M's or the older LTM cameras.

The newer Elmar is a dandy lens though. Sharp with a nice flat field.

You meant yours is current version too?😕

Sorry for not being clear.

Yes, my Elmar 50/2.8 is the current version.

I only have to move the focusing ring maybe 5mm before I can feel it hit the ledge inside the camera. It's usable that way but one does have to be mindful.

My collapsible Summicron fits just fine but that lens has a different, older look and seems more prone to flare.
