Have the opportunity to buy a used R2 from a friend. Does anyone know what has been improved with the later Bessa models?

(I assume the R2 takes M mount lenses and the mount is rangefinder coupled, right?)

I own the R2 and used to own the plain old R before.

The R2 is a huge step from R in terms of build quality and durability. I can't speak from experience but I believe the differences between R2 and R2a/m are only cosmetic.

The differences / imporovements introduced in R2a/m are:
- different rewind lever
- different eyepiece (possible to attach diopter correction lenses)
- different readout in viewfinder: A: shutter speeds, M: -2 -1.5 -1 -0.5 o +0.5 +1 +1.5 +2
- electronic (battery dependent) shutter in A models, plus aperture priority auto mode.

AFAIK that's all.
