Bessa R2C Rangefinder Patch Contrast?

I just obtained a new Bessa R2C from CameraQuest, my first experience with a 35mm Bessa R series camera. Overall I am impressed with the camera and look forward to using my Contax/Kiev lenses with it. While the focusing mechanism seems to work fine, I have noticed that in various conditions - for example, a telephone pole against a bright, cloudy sky or a tree in front of a stone building in subdued light - the patch has very little contrast and blends into overall viewfinder, making it difficult to see the split image line up. Is this a known issue with the Bessa R2x rangefinder patch? By comparison, my Leica M6, Contax IIa, Zorki 3, and Bessa III all show much more contrast in the rangefinder patch are are generally easier to focus. I have never had that issue with my R2C, the contrast of the rangefinder patch appears similar to my R4A, and definately better than a couple of my LTM Canons or Nikon SP

Just a followup - I used my old 1930s collapsible Sonnar 5cm lens and focused by turning the lens barrel rather than using the focus wheel and did not experience the patch fade out. I mentioned the phenomenon to Will at Photo Village in NYC and he suggested that I may have been blocking the little rangefinder window with my finger, causing the the patch to disappear. I am not sure, but it sounds plausible. The more I use the R2C the more I like it. Thanks for reading. -George

Just to note: in certain instances, you can get viewfinder flair that can diminish the contrast of the RF patch. I've had this happen on my R2 and a borrowed M6. If it does happen, point the camera in a different angle and see if it goes away.

Not on the Bessa R2, but I've also had some sunshades block the RF patch of my Canon P and Canon VI-T.
