Bessa r4a & 35/1.2

Whilst I do no have the 35/1.2, I have the ZM 21/2.8 with the R4A. With the 35mm framelines, that lens (46mm filter diameter) shows up in the bottom corner (about 1/8th of the 35mm frame line rectangle is blocked). I would assume that the 35/1.2 WILL be worse.

When I had my 35/1.2 I was surprised to see that the lens blocks the same amount of the 35mm area in the finder on the R4 as it did on my M6. Keep in mind the 35mm frame area is smaller in the R4 than M6.

The Nokton with its short hood will block about 33% of the frame, slightly less than 30% without the hood. The ideal body for this lens is the ZI - also because of the RF accuracy, which has to be critical if you shoot wide open.

Rover,does your m6 had a 0.72 finder?does it was confortable to use a nokton 35/1.2 with your m6?too much obstruction of viewfinder?which combo could you suggest? nokton 35/1.2 +m6 or nokton+r4a? thanks🙄

mfogiel,
I have a m6 titan,and I'm interested in a rf with built-in light meter (included A mode)and frame for 21mm (that I own )elmarit asph.io sono di Tortona (al).ciao

Yes, M6TTL with .72 finder.

Because of the speed of the lens, and weight, it was a better fit with the M6. The camera and lens balanced well. On the R4 the lens did dominate the body. That said, it was usable and focused well. I have to be honest and say that I did not use the R4/Nokton combo wide open a lot. It is simple physics that proves the M6 will focus the Nokton better, but I had no problems with the R4 how I used it.

Since you have an M6 already, if you yearn for the Nokton, do it, it is an awesome lens. The R4 is also a great body so don't fret that decision either.

Paolo,
I understand you have an 0.72 M6 - this one should be ok for the Nokton, but a part of the VF will be obstructed - not nearly as much as in case of the R4. Anyway, the Nokton 35 is a great lens, so a compromise is well wotrh the while. The R4 however, has problems with lenses that are longer than 2-3 cm, so it excels with the CV pancakes. I use it mainly with the 28mm, but also with the 21 and 25 Biogons. My suggestion would be, to trade your Leica 21mm for the R4A with the C Biogon 21/4.5 if you don't mind the slower max aperture.
