Gentlemen:
Can anybody point me to a good lens shade for the Bessa RF (black top) 6x9? Mine has the old swing-away filter holder on it, but no filter.
I'm a shooter, not a collector, and so the shade just has to work well, and does not have to be a collector's (genuine V) article. I won't be shooting 645.
Thanks!
Cheers
Chris

You may have to remove the swing-away - IIRC that has a non-standard exterior rim, and shades obviously won't fit the insert holder. Any 37mm slip-on should fit the lens, at any rate if you have the Heliar version.

It will show you how you can make a pretty good-looking DIY lens hood out of a plastic bottle, for no cost.

Sort of still on topic (shades, filters, what's the difference?) ... would this mean that the two filters Jurgen Kreckel (certo6) has listed on eB@y at the moment (or recently did) would seem to fit? I have one of these cameras as well, with the Helomar, and in measuring it looks closer to 36 mm but that's probably just my eyes. I'm a bit disinclined to buy his pair for $20 + shipping before first looking through the unsorted bits & bobs bin at a local shop in search of a $3 answer. On the other hand, that bin is more likely to be full of threaded, much larger diameter filters...

Dave the 37mm filters and shade should fit (they do on mine), a bit loose, but you can usually just crimp them in a bit. the filter size for the Bessa RF is meant to be 36.8mm...as sold in their brochure at the time
37mm filters and shades are common on ebay and the correct size for Bessa 1 and 2 but you can get them fit on the Bessa RF (black top) with a bit of a fiddle. you may have to remove the flip door that holds the built on yellow filter though.
originaly voitglander had as an accessary a colapsable rubber lens shade which would be ideal (can probably be left on when closing the door), but all these years on theres not much hope of getting one that hasnt perished

As far as mine is concerned, the same 37mm slip-ons as on my Super Ikonta do fit nicely. But YMMV, originally the swing-away holder was the intended filter attachment, so that front rim precision may not have been among the things under tight quality control.

36.8?!? Who in Hades came up with that? Or maybe "why" is the better question. No matter ... if the 37s fit, that makes life easier. (And I figured they might on this camera, since Jurgen claims they fit the Bessa I and II.) As to the hinged yellow filter in the way, well, some prior owner has thoughtfully taken care of that problem for me. Only two tiny holes where it was attached remain. No trace of the filter or hinge.

Update: Jurgen's set (which I neglected to say above had not only the two filters but also a hood and a case for all the above) ended up going for USD 51. I'm glad I didn't get into that bidding.

yeah for some reason people bid high on his bits and peices, i dont know why..maybe just that he uses better key words in his discriptions. but if you spend the time searching you will pick them up for very reasonable price.
no idea why the Bessa RF was made 36.8mm . maybe they didnt give it much thought considering it had the built on filter flip door, i dont use mine everyday and less so with other filters (the yellow i use all the time). from time to time i think about getting some various filter glass cut the correct diameter to fit inside the flip door (the yellow pops out easy enough) or perhaps if i could find what diameter filters, carry the same size glass as used in the bessa RF flip door i could get some for cheap that way.
