The shutter release is jammed on my Bessa T (I assume the standard jamming problem these cameras have from time to time) so I'm going to have a go at fixing it myself. How easy is it to remove the bottom panel and have a fiddle? More importantly, is anything going to fall apart if I take the bottom panel off? Local quotes are very steep even to look at it and whilst I could send it away if I have the chance to fix it myself it would be handy (was hoping to shoot some film at a wedding on Saturday...)

Two options, before you attempt to open the camera up, -massage the shutter curtains if they are open, using the tip of a plastic utensil, sometimes the shutter sticks on mine and locks the release button, also, check you batteries, or if you open the back of the camera and help rotate the film sprockets a little this can also help aleviate a bit of in camera constipation.

To jiggle the film sprockets, you can also tighten the film by turning the rewind lever; worth a try if you don't want to open the back straight away..

Cheers both. Shutter curtains closed and no end of jiggling tried but to no avail...

I've answered my own question by just diving in - four screws to remove (not the big one in the take-up spool) and it comes off easy enough.

Not managed to fix it yet though...

May it rest in peace 🙁
Uneconomic to repair according to the repairer, lots of bits mangled by my attempts to release the jam.
Moral of the story, if your Bessa jams, don't try to force the film advance lever 🙁

We should open a shop together you and I.
You kill the cameras and I'll kill the lenses!
😱

Sorry for your loss.

Hey, its an excuse for another GAS attack 🙂

Hmm, I don't have a Canon RF yet, and have a Canon 50mm f/1.2 on the way... 🙂

Or I promote my R2S NHS to regular shooter, but that would mean additional lens purchases...
