I posted a few days ago that I'm new here and just got a Leica M3 with Canon 50 1.8. I was able to post a photo using a kind of 'ghetto' scanner (macro P&S with neg held to light).
Well, today I got ahold of a negative scanner and have been converting most of my negatives to digital and what follows are my first few serious rolls through the M3. I say 'serious' because I put a roll of fuji 800 through to check a lightmeter and shutter and lens, so there was nothing really on the film except test photos.
Last week I saw that Saturday was due to have sun, for the first time in what seems like months around here. I figured it would be a perfect day to head over to Seattle and give the M3 a serious run-through. I was in no hurry and let the day just flow, it was almost like a vacation that lasted a week rather than eight hours. I had an excellent time.
I've found that the M3, so far, works really well for crowded places like street/candid photography. Reason being the Leica is very small and unobtrusive. Like many others have said here, most people don't even pay attention to it. With so many DSLR and P&S I think a lot of people either believe their camera is superior to yours and thus have no need/reason to compare brand/model or there are so many people with cameras that it's easy to blend in. I had absolutely no problems or confrontations or even weird looks directed at me for taking photos. This probably also has a lot to do with Pike's Place being a touristy place.
Anyway, less talk more photos!
-Bainbridge Island Ferry to Seattle
-Post Alley at Pike's Place, just above the market
-Market Street Park(? not sure about name)
Thank you!
