I got a tiny Canon Serenar 35 f3.5. Looks like a lens cap! 😛

That's a good recommendation.

Both the Canon 35mm f/3.5 and f/3.2 LTM can be had for a relatively low price. Should be within the £100 budget. For black and white work, I think they are quite good. Medium contrast lens with relatively good details.
