Adox Atomal 49 (AKA Adox ATM49). HP5 is a grainy film, this developer tames the grain without losing film speed and gives wonderful tones. Take my word for it!
It may not be as user friendly but I mix my own TD-201 from Anchell&Troop, works for me.
What you use depends on what you want as an end result and your technique there is no substitute for some personal experimentation.
BTW: "grainy film" ? It is 400 iso.
I use HP5+ at 400ISO with HC-110 dissolution H (1+63) at 60F/20C for eleven minutes. Two inversions every minute. Works great.
25 years ago I remember for some reason I always exposed it at 500ISO, developped in HC-110 B for aroud 7 or 7-1/2 min...??
