I've got a Canon VI-T I'd like to have serviced. Sherry Krauter will work on them, but she didn't sound too enthusiastic about it on the phone. I've also heard the name Mark Hama (sp?) Who does the best, most thorough job on these cameras?

I tried the crappy search function and found nothing. 🙁

I just bumped into this message, but got to thinking what a great resource of such information RFF could be for those of us that are uninitiated in basic camera repair, either DIY or send away.

Could we maybe get a sticky going, or some special section that suggests places/people willing to help the all thumbs photographers? Not just Canon, but anything. I find sending my cameras off after visuting a Penn Camera store with a promise of a repair in 4 or 5 months or so and an "estimate" of costs makes me nervous.

I'd be happy to have this info at my fingertips!

I had my Canon P serviced by Mark Hama last year and he did a marvelous job on it – it came back working as smooth as silk.

I've never had any servicing work done by Don, but I have bought parts from him in the past and he was a real pleasure to deal with – I'm sure your Canon'll come back like new.

...if it does I will regret selling it.

Well, I'll let you know. The VI-T and the 50/1.2 both went out to Don today. I was going to take a crack at the 50 myself, but since the body was going to Don, I thought I'd have him service the lens, too.

I sure hope my M5 clears customs before Don finishes the CLA! 😱 😀
