Hi Folks,

Getting MF film processed is going to be a bit of a pain for me. I know of a couple of local shops but they send the film away which means I'd have to wait a week at least before I could call round to get it back.

does anyone have any reccomendations for good postal film processing companies in the UK?

I do intend to bo my own black and white but it may be a while before I have the time (and correct gear). Also I've just bought my first MF camera (a Fuji GS645) and would like its first film dome professionally so I can check the camera is funtioning okay.

As ever - all help greatly appreciated.

Bob.

Bob,
I have used Peak Imaging, Lab 120, Metro Labs and Transpacolor. At present Peak imaging is my regular lab... not cheap but consistently good. Best wishes.

Another vote for Peak Imaging. I looked at a lot of other labs and Peak were no more expensive. Good results from B&W, colour print and slide and quick turn around.

Thanks guys I may give them a go.

What are they like for turnaround?

Bob,
Generally, slides come back 2 days after sending, prints take about 3 days.

I always use dlab7. The company affiliated with 7dayshop. They only dev 120 reversal film, but that is the only colour I shoot and do my own B&W. The prices are great, turnaround is about 3-4 days and they haven't let me down yet.

I've used Peak for about 10 rolls of 35mm colour negative film. I find the prints quite contrasty, the colours almost garish. Just wondering if any other users had similar results.

I tend to buy my slide film from FujiFilm direct with processing included. Have had film returned within a few days. Kodak offer a similar service and had film returned to me from Switzerland where their labs are.

For Black and White I still buy Illford with Processing and send it to them.

Always happy with the results in all these instances.

Sircarl, I have found the same for Peak with 35mm colour - but for some reason the 120 prints are much better. I have used Euroclor in London in the past -they were good (but tended to crop the negs by 4-5mm, whereas peak are ~2mm) are Eurocolor still going?

www.club35.co.uk, cheaper than Peak and your prints are back within the week. I've also used Peak, but 15 7x5's cost £12.34 plus £2.50 p&p, so it seems rather expensive compared to Club 35's £8.00 plus 80p p&p. I've had no complaints with the quality at Club 35 either.
