Hello all,
I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. I just stumbled on a Bessa R2a with the Nokton Classic 40/1.4, Grip, Hood, etc. and got it for (what I believe to be) a steal.

Now, I would like to ask you all what the best strap is. I'm fairly tall (6'2 +/-) and like for my cameras to hang across my body with my camera at my hip. I've got one of those Y-strap things for my G11 that works pretty well for it, but I was wondering if it would suit the Bessa.

My biggest quirk with the Y-strap is that when I try to raise the camera, the strap sort of just moves with the camera, rather than the ring sliding along the strap.

Has anyone had any luck with any good, longer-than-average camera straps?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Matthew

While they are probably too short for you, I use the cheapest Leica straps ($30.00?) on both my R4 and R2 (I'm not sure that I should say this, but it was on Ken Rockwell's recommendation). They really are comfortable and seem quite secure.

If you have materials on hand and the ability to do the sewing, it would be pretty easy to graft a longer section of 10mm webbing onto something like a Domke strap, which IMO is just about the best "standard" strap ever made.

^^ Domke strap is awesome, just got another. I like the version without swivels where the thinner part of strap meets the wider webbing. There is a fair amount of length adjustment available so it might work. Oh, and cheap too!

Yeah, I have a Domke strap and it's too short, so my fiancee is using it on her G11. But I may try to get another one and add some extra fabric to it. Any idea about thread to use? Or is it just standard stuff?

Anyone had any luck with the BlackRapid straps here?
