I'm going to order.. soon.. something from Tony at Popflash. I just want to know which method is best - ordering via the web or via phone.

Looking for personal experiences/delivery times up to Canada/and overall experience from either/or/both methods.

Thank you
Dave

I mostly have used the Web site. Note - it has been completely redone and is finally useable by something other than a DB admin. It's great. If you haven't given the new site a look hop over there and check it out. I think you'll really like it.

Well I'm glad somebody likes the new site. I find it impossible to use, especially the search. The old site was much better IMO. Can someone tell me how to get a list of Tony's stock in new Leica lenses? Maybe 20 - 30 items should come back in the page list. I can't figure it out.

I've done both web and phone with Tony. With web the free shipping as an RFF member isn't an option in the page. With phone you can just tell them, and they'll also check to make absolutely sure the item is in stock. So I prefer phone.

Thanks guys..

I think I'll give Tony a call instead. While the site looks nicer now the search functionality is lacking imho.
I'll have to put my wishes for a 35 ASPH cron on the back burner for the time being.

Click the "+" sign on lenses. Then click which ever brand you are interested in. Voila!

Tuolumne,

When I do that, on the main page, I click "Lenses" then I click "Zeiss Lenses" and I get the following message:
No items found

What would you like to do now?

I believe Peter and I have the same experience in searches on Tony's site.
I think he's got great prices and, obviously based on people here, excellent service (hence the reason why I want to order from him) but the site needs to be adjusted to be more user friendly.

Cheers
Dave

Curious. The last time I tried it I recall getting pages of lenses. Now nothing, just one listing for Leica. Did something break? Or did all the RFF members just buy him out?

What! Free shipping for Rff members!?!? Dangit! Oh well, killer deal anyway.
I used the site a couple of days ago and it worked without a hitch..
Fast confirmation emails and tracking info..

Using Firefox or IE 6, if you do a search by manufacturer, specify Zeiss, you get (apparently) Tony's entire Zeiss inventory. But if you expand the lens category (click the plus sign), then select Zeiss, you get nothing. Seems like a scripting issue to me.

I think so too. Sloppy work by whoever wrote the code and even sloppier testing. Dave when you call Tony tell him his site is unusable.

I was just on the phone with Josh.. I should have commented at that point :(

I think we can just PM tony and hopefully he'll get the PM and the message about his site.

I like the layout, just don't like the functionality as it stands currently.

oh no!
you will be ruined for all other 'mortal' lenses now.

Well.. it seemed to be that trying to snag a 35mm Cron ASPH was getting harder and harder to do without having to buy "new".

I've heard the Biogon is about the size of the 50mm cron and I can live with that.

I don't know if I can deal with the smaller size of the 35mm Cron pre-ASPH as my "sausage fingers" may have issue with that :D

did you get it in black or chrome?

if it's black and you don't like it...i think having one in each colour might be nice:)

Ya.. ordered black to go with the M7..

I plan on keeping the Nokton for "special purposes" (i.e. when I want/need f1.2)
