Used to ride lots...less now I live on a gravel road that climbs about 800 feet in about a mile...
Got a couple of classic 10 speed steel frame road bikes but my favourite, a 1970s Peugeot, needs some work before I can ride it again...

Since I passed 50 (age, not mph), suddenly all my rides require a keen eye for certain facilities, especially on those longer rides. A pit stop pictured here with strong backlight from outside the port-a-potty.

Driving a truck @ over 50 requires the same span of attention.:) I'm still looking for a bike.

Greg, you are? Cool!!!

Back to riding mine in preparation for warm weather. Also walking 5 miles four or five times a week. Can't tell you how much I am looking forward to riding the Trek 660 around the neighborhood tomorrow.

Hope you find one soon...I know Craigslist always has a lot of steel bikes that are a good buy.

So, who is riding already getting in shape for the season ahead? I am....sort of.:p

Was going to post a photo of the Trek 660, but then I realized I don't have a digi cam anymore.

I am doing a fabulous job of getting out of shape. Mileage down. Motivation down. Body weight up. hate the cold and I hate riding indoors. Ugh.

Not sure how I'd do climbing this hill today. I think I shot this in early December...

Rob, you and I feel the same way. Problem is that today is going to be sunny and warm (60s)...I have to walk my 5 miles today and tomorrow and don't know if I have the energy or motivation to ride the bike either day.

I am a sorry dog.

I ride a Giant Cyrpuss ST, which is a hyrbid. I ride it mostly for fun.
My new bike is similar, Giant Cypress City. I haven't been riding for decades, and thanks to David Byrne's book on bicycles have realised how silly I'd have been for not cycling all this time:bang:.

Now I'm enjoying it very much, often taking my camera on bike fun rides. (The only thing I'm struggling with is that the camera keeps hitting into my helmet when I want to take a vertical shot... I have to remember to do it the other way around).

Pretty, responsive, and comfortable.

All the gears for me, don't think we could handle this as a single speed. We ride in the campgrounds and on rail trails but have not had it out this year yet. Last year we rode through NYC when they had the streets closed for bikes. It does get a lot of attention everywhere we ride.

I've never understood the whole fixed gear/single speed trend that's currently around. Gears have been around forever. They are more efficient, save knees and enable you to ride places you couldn't with only one gear. Would anyone buy a one speed car, or motorbike? So...

As cliche as it sounds, I feel more connected when I ride my fixed gear compared to other bikes. It's sort of like driving a car with a manual transmission compared to an automatic. It's a perfect all weather commuter and around town bike and can be fun on light trails.

That being said I have been thinking about saving up for a cx bike for those rides longer than 20-25 miles. Last year I did 55 miles on the fixie and it was too much.

We have a few, and ofcourse ride them when weather is gentle.
Winter and icey roads are no't for any twowheeler.
Most smiles back do our racer tandem bring, for daily comuting I use a 28" Mustang with four fitting panniers. For sport I have a tailord Schrøer R, 8 kg of pure joy.
As a BPO I have to move around daily. Within 40 km the bike often is fastest and brings you to the door.

Whatever suits me best. The balloon tire single speed and the crosser are set up with fenders (and the latter with spike tires) for winter, so it is currently generally among these two. Neither tubulars nor fender-less bikes are much fun on soggy mud lanes...

Been riding the new pedelectic bicycle as well as my Brompton folder regularly, as weather permits the past month or so. Legs getting strong, belly getting smaller. Life is good.
