It depends on the Dollar/Yen relationship. I got my Rambouillet frame for $900...

Glad you like the bikes. Yep, it is T. Monk. What can be said tha has not already been said about his genius? You have a swell shop in Portland: River City Bicycles, owned by an old friend and ex-bike shop boss of mine, Dave Guettler. I suggest you work with Dave and build up a Surly Cross Check as they are well made and a good value. Maybe add his hand made wooden fenders.
ernstk: does your Gios have the coins in the fork crown?
Thanks for the heads up on River City. I've purchased a few smaller items there over the years, but never a complete bike. Should I ask for Dave Guettler and drop your name? I'm not looking for some kind of deal, just a good set up as I'm pretty new to this biking thing (except for all those years as a kid tooling around on bikes).

Yes, by all means tell Dave that Bob Rogen sent you and says hello. Dave is full of good energy, and his staff is helpful. And he has an espresso machine running all day on Saturday to add to the experience...

Joe,
Those are some nice bikes. Which one is your favorite? Which gets the most ride time?

That is one sweet ride. I'd really only change the seat. Damn, that thing looks like and instrument of torture! A nice Brooks B-17 would be nice.

visiondr,
The Moots is a great bike. The frame is light and reponsive . The quality of construction is hard to beat. I think the quality of titanium ( aside from weight) as a frame material is more apparent when used in road bike frames where it seems to damp out some of the road buzz you seem to get with aluminum frames behaving more like steel. The Ybb has a rear shock of sorts which adds to the plush qualiy of the frame. I ride that bike when I ride on dirt roads or unpaved rails to trails. I find I enjoy it more for these tasks than the Klein mountain bike I had.
The frame is expensive but then I limit my hobbies to a few !
