So bummed, getting out of my car the latch on the camera bag I was using came unbuckled. Since I hadn't zipped it, out it went onto the concrete. Camera seems fine but the 35mm is bent just past the focus ring. Waiting to see if Master Card will help me out (waiting on forms). Seems like things are disposable these days so not counting on it being repairable.

That stinks. I read a thread recently about someone who dropped their XP1 and had frame damage (very severe). It wasn't covered under warranty but I think the bill topped out at $350 or so. Better than buying a new one.

Best of luck, I hope MC comes through for you!

She didn't mind being dropped from a Jag! And yeah she's now baptized and you don't have to worry about dropping her again.
In all seriousness, I'm sorry for what happened, I hope it won't be too expensive to repair.

Don't know nothing about the Fuji, but is it just the filter ring? Or did it mess up the focusing or lens in another way? Lot's of free, cheap fixes for a dented filter ring.

Update: looks like the lens hood just got cattywompers on it's bayonet. Just took a perfect shot with it so the mechanics are good. Now just need to figure out how to get the hood straight on again or get it off (which should lead to a vice versa situation). Any suggestions?

Bummer.

If the filter ring of the lens is undamaged u might want to think about using a standard metal lens shade instead if the original is too damaged.

Can't tell if the filter ring is damaged or not. The lens hood is definitely angled and it won't budge one way or the other. I'm hoping (praying) that nothing is damaged but I won't know for sure until I figure out how to finesse the hood off.

I'm sorry to learn of your accident. I have been suprised more than I'd like to admit to discover my camera bag was unbuckled. I was just lucky they never fell out.

I hope you get the hood off and nothing is seriously damaged. Maybe there's a camera repair business in your city?

How does one tell if a camera is a boy or a girl?

PS: Just cut the filter off with a metal snipper and put a new one on.

Fixed and now hood and lens are working just fine.

I'm so in love with this camera that it and the lenses must be feminine or it would just be weird. Just don't tell my wife 😉
