Here's another June-July event I chanced upon that might serve as another meeting opportunity: Photoville 2012 at the Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Looks kind of cool.

So wait, you guys are seriously entering the parade and paying a fee? Ok, count me out of this meet-up. I'll just go photograph instead.
This is a bump.
I'll likely head to Coney Island VERY early, but sometime after the parade begins at 1:00 PM most likely I'll head out. The crowds are, by then, massive.
Last year I was there around 10:00, but this year I want to begin shooting a lot earlier when the place is empty.

If I can afford the $15 I'll enter the parade. If not, I'll get there early and shoot like Cal. Except I'll only have an X100 and a Leica M, no fiddler crab arm for me!
I'm also gonna be in and around the city from tomorrow afternoon till the 10th of June.

Yes photography has deformed my body. My right arm is not only a lot bigger, but it is also about an inch longer due to the effects of gravity. Also for a real skinny guy I have a extra thick neck. I can only imagine further deformation if I ever shoot large format. If I ever go large format though I'll go 8x10 for contact printing.
I'll likely either bring a pair of Leicas, or a Rollei 3.5F and my M6 HM with 75 Lux as a pair. Might even just concentrate with only bringing the 75 Lux and carry only one rig to exploit all the models who will hold a pose.
PM me if you want to walk around the city and shoot Friday or Tuesday. I am taking care of a rescued dog that I nicknamed "Chubby Butt." Trying to break him of the habit of becoming a thug-dog and going into attack mode even though he's a small dog. Anyways the daily death marches seem to wear his hard edge away. Friday and Tuesday I intend to exercise CB while roaming the city with a camera.
Cal
Cal, I'll be joining you early on that day.

I can meet on Tuesdays for sure. I'll be down at WTC on Wednesday doing some spec. reporting on the 10th anniversary of the WTC cleanup. I'm also available Friday. This time I'll bring the goodies that I said I would last time (120 Plus-X and a 1.25x magnifier.)
I look forward to meeting Chubby Butt!

Save the date: June 23rd for the Mermaid Parade.
John suggested that we also have one of our regular meet-ups also so look at the June Meet-Up thread for that date.

UPDATE: John was correct in that within a week I would buy/get a big/massive Pentax after handling one at the last Meet-Up.
My new "Monster" camera is a Pentax 67II. I'll likely only bring one camera to the Mermaid Parade because basically I'm not strong enough to carry two. This puppy weighs about a pound more than my Nikon F3P rigged with a motor-drive and Noct-Nikkor. All of the sunned those big Fuji's that have interchangable lenses seem small like a Barnack. By next week I'll have the P67II all pimped out when I get the shipment from KEH.

I might have a big trade happening tomorrow Saturday. All my small cameras might be gone depending if this deal goes through. Didn't even have time to run any film through those two Barnacks I brought to the Meet-Up. LOL.
Anyways it looks like my small cameras will be my Leicas that are all pimped out that John calls "Monsters."
Anyways the Pentax 67II makes me look skinnier.

Cal, you know how all the women at the Mermaid Parade love your big cameras. ;-) Remember last year?

Seems like the Pole Dancers are particularly fond of me. Don't tell my girlfriend, but I wonder if I'll see that amazing pole dancer named "Brooklyn" again.
This year expect me to be a big "Tourist Attraction" because I'll be sporting a Pentax 67II. Tomorrow I'm getting a massive order from KEH so I can pimp out this huge camera. Already have the Hot Shoe Grip.
By definition artists are exhibitionists. LOL. I will model silk Tommy Bahama Hawian shirt, Maui Jim sunglasses, and feature my "Louie" leather camera bag with my new "monster camera.
BTW yesterday John and I did a East Harlem patrol. John sported a "Digital Barnack" (Leica X2) and I was carrying my unpimped out Pentax 67II. Kinda strange for the neighborhood. John overheard someone tell another, "Look at the size of that camera." LOL.
