I'm on my fifth Billingham Bag, two Billingham for Leica, a Hadley Large, a Hadley Large Pro and now a Hadley Small Pro. Each time I struggle with getting the divider in the correct position. Today, I spent the better part of an hour trying to get the dividers set in a Hadley Small Pro. The velcro would adhere before I was ready or the divider flap would be too close to the side of the bag or too far away. I've tried the fold over technique and the place a piece of paper between the divider and the insert. Both work but I'm looking for a better method. Currently I have a Hadley Large, for taking a bunch of gear, a Billingham For Leica, which holds the stuff for the M4 and a recently acquired Hadley Small Pro for swapping between the Sony A7II with a couple of Loxia lenses and maybe the M4. Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you have this trouble with all five Billingham bags? I can relate somewhat because my Think Tank Retrospective bags (3) are a bit fiddly in a similar way; but I can attach one side of the divider while holding back the other side until I'm ready to attach it. Is the Billingham different?

Would 2 pieces of wax paper help - put on either side of the inner bag - position the divider and carefully withdraw the wax paper?

I’ve tried using a piece of printer paper and that mostly worked. This time it was the fold and place technique. I have a Hadley Large that is rarely used, maybe I’ll try the wax paper on its’ dividers. Thanks for the tip.

The Velcro grabs while trying to set the divider. The nice thing about the Hadley series is you can remove the insert, configure it then put it back in the bag. My problem has been trying to set the divider with both sides of the Velcro grabbing evenly. Once the divider are set, they really stay in place and do a good job of protecting the equipment.

I've had the same problems when trying to re-configure Billinghams, and others. I find that a good stiff drink just prior to the project helps immensely. Otherwise, I don't have any constructive suggestions...

Had a celebratory old fashioned after getting the dividers set.
