hi alice
i've never seen the BP version of 12504, but on the normal version, i believe you can see either a little bit of the thread between the two halves or some indication of the division between the two parts. have you tried holding the filter in both hands (camera side in one hand, vented shade in the other), and turning gently counterclockwise?
good luck

I have this shade but even with all my force I didn't succeed in unscrewing it.

That really surprises me! There would seem to be no reason to compromise the utility of the hood by making it impossible to use filters. What were they thinking?

The BP 12504 was made for the 35/2.0 that has an E39 filter thread so no need to use series vii filters. (Expensive, difficult to get and increased flare due to the larger distance between filter glass and surface of front element).

I too own a copy of this hood and my experience is the same as Erik's. It does not appear that it was designed to unscrew to accommodate a series filter. Having since gotten a copy of an earlier version and discovering it's utility, I came to the same conclusion that Gabor describes. I belive the hood was designed specifically for the black paint version of the ASPH Summicron.

thanks for the responses, i asked because i wanted to use the BP hood for my titanium lux pre-a as opposed to the flat black hood. but at the same time i want to house the series 7 filter in it
