Hi,
I have just bought a Canon QL17 black version and i can't find anything online about it really. I have found lots about the GIII version though.
I did find something about the camera being referred to the Canon QL17-L though. Is it true that this camera is very rare and more rare than the Black QL17 GIII version? Does anybody have any rough ideas how much this camera is valued at?
Thank you
Dave

Is this one of the big Canonet models? Or the more modern small size? I have a couple of black QL 17 cameras (not G-III) and don't have any idea if they're rare or not. My guess is probably not. That said, black Canonets' seem to bring substantially more $$$$ on eBay than the chrome variety.

From my limited research so far i have found out that the black QL-17 GIII is quite rare and fetch quite good money on the auction site.
But the black QL-17 is alot rarer because it had a small limited run.
They are called QL-17 luxury or just L and they have the battery check button on the back. I haven't yet been able to find one that is for sale or has been sold recently to gather a price. But from the few forums i have seem it mention they stated it sells for alot more than the black GIII version.
I don't think alot of people know about there rarity at the moment and just see it as an inferior to the GIII. But some people do understand their rarity and know there true value.

When it was new, the extra cost for the black version was $10. At one point, Black Canonets were going in the $300 range. I sold an ex- Canonet QL17L that was engraved for $225. I replaced the seals and cleaned the finder. I believe prices have dropped. You can always put it up on auction and give it a try.

Currently, I have a "Panda" Canonet Ql17L, using the top plate and bottom plate from a $40 Black Canonet QL17L that was jammed.
