Hi RFF,

Can anyone diagnose the black spots on my roll? This was developed in a triple Paterson tank. None of the other rolls have these bubbles.

My technique has always been the same during development: agitate for five seconds and tap the tank to dislodge any air bubbles. This technique has been near perfect for me.

Thanks!

  1. They are not "black spots on the negative". Being black or dark on the positive image they much be clear or light on the negative.
  2. They have all the hallmarks of air bells, areas of less or no development. The key traits are that, on the positive image/print, they are black or dark with a light/white "halo" at their edges.
I suspect that your technique slipped a bit and the agitation produced more or the tap after agitation was insufficient.
