black summilux 35 for M3 - some questions

I have the opportunity to buy a black summilux 35mm with goggles - originally produced for the M3 I believe. Although the investment is high (about 1000 euro) the lens is in excellent condition and it might be worth it. I'm asking your support to decide this, need more info on the following issues:
- what would be the value of this lens ?
- can it be used on an M2, m6 or M7 ? Wouldn't that mess up the viewing angle ?
Any info is welcome, there is not much around about this lens.

Visually, through the finder, there's a lot of distortion. The first version 35 f/1.4 Summilux ain't the sharpest lens that came out of Wetzlar and flares a bit wide open. If you needed the speed when shooting for a newspaper it was OK but the best I can say about an 11 X 14 print is it'll have an "interesting" look.

With any Leica it brings up the 50mm frame and converts it to the 35mm field of view.

No, it won't couple correctly if you take the eyes off of it.
 
The version at hand is produced in Canada, is a V2 by its serial # (23xxxx) and is black. According to the scarce sources i had access to, this type of summilux 35 (for M3) shouldn't be in this serial range ?

If what you say is true, is it possible somone combined a normal lens with the 35mm googles after the lens was made? A "custom order" from Leitz?
 
There is one just sold a min ago on ebay, complete with box, hood, filters, the 35 lux chrome w/ goggle for $1850.

Interesting lens. The # is a later version of the "infinity" lock version. Better optically than the first version. The hood looks wrong, but in those days Midland would do special orders and I suspect that this is one.
The value is what the customer wants to pay - of course. Is it a rare collectible? Don't know as we are likely never going to know the story behind it. Midland is notorious for not releasing any information on products.
Personally, I would not buy it - but then i hate goggled 35's. It will work on later cameras M4/M4-2/M4-P/M6 and M7. On the TTL they can be problematic as the top plate is taller and thus the optical "axis" for the finder is 2 mm higher.
If you want a 35f1.4 and can live with the "lump" of the finder - it is not a bad price.
The earlier version is more collectible, particularly with the OLLUX hood, as they kept falling off and get lost. Optically the later one is better by a fair margin.
