Blackpool UK - where to take pics?

What a posted question. It always amazes me how clueless some of us are: from behind the camera, viewfinder is always the best place to see, compose and shoot.

In Blackpool, Whitechurch, wherever. And nobody can point your nose to where you have to look for the "best shots". Research, walk, see, take yourself. YOUR PERSONAL choice and task in any city is to find your pictures; sorry to be so obvious here.

The posted pics are marvelous, though. I wish poster good luck in his/her takes, too.

Thanks. I did play with the exposure of the third shot, but couldn't get it where I wanted it - either the shadow in the shed disappeared or the foreground was too dark. If you have any ideas of what I could do I would really appreciate it - Photoshop isn't my strongpoint!

Thanks again for your comments.

Have a play with the levels in "Image -> Adjustments -> Levels". Just under the graph for input levels, try dragging the grey marker slightly. I'm no expert either though, don't worry! Thank you for sharing the photos!

I wonder if someone can solve this mystery for me: Having a quick fiddle with that third picture in photoshop, I noticed that the image had red, green and blue channels which all appear the same (which one would expect for a black and white photo), but that the highlights are different to the combined RGB channel. Is this something odd going on in photoshop? I always assumed it took an average of the channels.

Though I live in Canada now my family connections with Blackpool are numerous. In the 20's and 30's it was the holiday place of choice during "Wakes Week" - the annual holiday week for the Lancashire cotton factory workers. Each town had a different week. Here's a pic of my mother (middle) with friends on North Pier - late 30's - on their holiday from their factory in Oldham.
Every arcade along the prom - bingo, crystal ball reading, cockles and mussels, waxworks etc has got to be prime photo territory. The lodging houses and their names, especially down the side streets are unique.

Living here you tend to forget the special memories that Blackpool holds for people .In many ways it`s a resort trapped by its past but that is what gives it a unique appeal to many. An old fashioned early 20c holiday town where people could escape from the grime of the Lancashire cotton towns.Love the picture posted and I suspect that there are many like it cherished by people around the world.
