I was just thinking today that with all the advancements in digital cameras, computers and etc. that there should be a way of combining it all to allow blind people to use a camera. Don't know how, but figure there must be a way. Anyone heard of such a thing or even about someone working in roughly that direction?

Interesting, thanks. I see there is one group of researchers using a camera and a braille like table sitting on a tongue and another that is using some sort of recognition program that interprets shapes as sound.
