yep I agree that it's hard to compare if the subject's not the same but I would agree with Chris's order after shooting plenty with the Leica and zuiko. Mine by the way Chris is serial number 1022886 black nose MC, so you're spot on. What I have found is that with multi small lights or reflective surfaces in shot, the Summilux shots are consistantly nicer on the eye. I was disappointed by the Planar but Sam N makes a good point in it's defence so I will give it another roll at least. It does seem to be the sharpest out of the bunch.
thx all for looking and having a guess!

Ok guys, thanks for having a go!
Minthya, the most popular, SUMMILUX
Si & Jess, Planar 1.7 T*, my least favorite
Sam the lens tester, Super Takumar 1.4
Barber, Zuiko 50 1.4 MC
Nightstop, SUMMILUX
The Planar is a very sharp lens but the shapes and distortion in the oof really do put me off. The Zuiko is probably marginally smoother than the Takumar but the Tak to my eyes does give a more vintage look. The LUX is overall consistently smoother than all the others but at 10x the price of the tak or zuiko.
So I preferred the Summilux and the Takumar. This means that my perceived view [from posted images] that the Summilux gives harsh bokeh is not right. Maybe I meant the ASPH Summilux.

I have the early chrome Summilux and the Zeiss ZM C-Sonnar, and they both have similar and very smooth bokeh. The Zeiss has a little more contrast and color punch. I haven't tried the ASPH Summilux, so I can't comment on the harshness issue.

My choice, no. 1, had nothing to do with the optic.

Funny, I like Si and Jess the best and least of all Minthya, go figure
I have to agree, a better test would be the same subject for all lenses

Thanks Nobbylon for the thread: iIt was hard for me to to tell which was which, and I didnt see info on the cameras used with the lenses, sensors? film? which can add other variables.
I did like the Lux, espec. the nightshot. I assume myntha was shot wide open, give the softness of focus. I was surprised how much I like the Zuiko bokeh, and how I didnt like the TAkumar so much, since I've seen many incredible images by this lens and its on my list for future purchase. Perhaps it was shot with a digital sensor that confounded the bokeh style into something Im not used to.
Thanks again for the challenge, I love these "whodunnit" threads!
