Bought a user M2, not quite right

I finally managed to get a classic M body on Saurday to use as a backup to my M6. It does have one teensy problem though. The 50 frame doesn't come up cleanly when I mount a lens but is all there on the preview lever. It's as if the arm goes a little too far and begins to bring up part ot the 90 frame as well. Now, the way I shoot is that I either use just a 50 or a 35/90 combo, so I was thinking this is not such a big problem for my way of working. When I shoot with a 50 I can wedge the preview lever with a bit of business card, problem "solved", when I use 35+90 there is no problem. Other than that and some scars on the body, the shutter is smooth and accurate and the finder is bright and contrasty. Should I get this fixed now or just live with my workround until the time comes for a full CLA? Your thoughts, please...
 
I now only have M-mount lenses, my 50's are a '57-74 type Elmar and a current Summicron. I've tried both with the same results. I suspect the problem is with the linkage to the frame selector being bent slightly out of shape, but for the reasons given above I'm prepared to live with it. I'm more worried about it being a symptom of a bigger issue with the frame set down the line.
 
Mark, this is not a big problem. All it atakes is a little adjustment of the frameline feeler arm, by a qualified tech person.

Congrats on your 'new' M2. I had a milder version of the frameline problem you are describing with mine (and like yours, the 50 framelines were sort of 'thinner' than what they should). I lived with it for nine months until I sent the camera off for a CLA in CRR Luton. I never mentioned the framelines yet Peter did a sterling job and the framelines are all coming up clearly now. I guess it is not such a big deal, a technician can fix it quite easily. So, if you can live with it leave it for later like you suggest. Enjoy!

I have a great dislike of the word 'user'. I've finally gotten it translated properly. It means "Ugly as hell, and it doesn't work!".

And mint minus means "Minus money from you and into my mint! Sucker!".

Someone needs to start a dictionary of these terms. Cleaning marks means "I tried to scrape off some chewing gum I stuck to the front of the lens"

On the whole I think "user" is a far more desciptive term than "near mint" or "mint-". Mint means to me "as new", anything less should not contain the word "mint" anywhere in the description. If you're into bicycles there's a hilarious glossary of craigslist terms at www.cyclofiend.com. A camera equivalent would be lots of fun

I would just wait for a full CLA and have it fixed at that time. It may be that the adjustment to the frameline is part of the service and would be at no additional cost.

If the problem is really annoying maybe you could pick up a 50mm external finder or just send it in for repair.

I've already come to that decision, Bob and I think my "repair" of dedicating the body to my 50 Elmar and wedging the preview lever with a small piece of card will be it for now. The frame comes up OK if I do this and anyway it adds to that "user" aesthetic :D
 
There is an adjustment screw for the frameline auto-select alignment, but access involves removing the top cover, so waiting till the CLA is probably best.
 
Hi Mark,
If you have a word withh CRR, they are quite amenable to fitting in "quick" jobs around the full CLAs at quite reasonable cost. I had sticky lines in an M6 and they turned it round in 4 days at very reasonable cost.

As FrankS says, a minor niggle. Can safely wait some years until the next CLA.
