Canada, eh.
The one few people talk about and that is thought suspect by many. The CV 50mm f2.5 . This will be the most modern lens I own, the others are all from the 1940's to '70's. It'll be interesting to see what it offers. Much is made on the quality of lenses with some folks paying $1000's. I like the alternative/guerrilla/subversive approach of using lenses like this and the FSU stuff. During a RFF print exchange a while ago, I recieved a very good print done with the CV 50 f2.5.

I just may do that someday. Right now, 50mm lenses are like women and I want to try them all. I'm not ready to settle down with jsut one 50mm lens yet. 🙂

Hey Frank, I for one would be interested in what you think of this lens in general and on a ii(i) Leica.

I'm considering the getting the same lens, but am wondering if it wouldn't be too big for the iiia.

BTW, did you all read the thread on PNet where the psoter compares his Leica/Summicron picture with his wife's Canonet picture? It was a few/several days ago.

Hi Steve. Someone else will need to answer that because I don't have this lens yet. Just agreed to buy it today. Who has this lens already?

Frank:

Congrats! Enjoy the lens fully.
I am in a similar position where I still need a modern design 50mm lens. I was tempted by the stellar sharpness of the Heliar 50/3.5 but I can't find it for sale at a price level I can now afford. Maybe I should also look for a CV lens and be staisfied.

Let us know how you like/don't like this new lens.

I'll be interested in seeing your results as well, Frank. I've been pondering a modern 50 as well once my job starts. It would be much more easy on the pocket than either of the ZM's 🙂

Raid, check and see if Ray-G's 50mm Hexanon lens is still available for $300. That's a good deal. My personal finances prohibited me from buying that one.

William, for sure. Now that I have a scanner I can share more. (My sister's husband drives a truck. Hauls propane. He calls it "the bomb".)
