brand new RD1S, Menu in Japanese

i haven't had this little beauty more than a few days and i managed to somehow switch the menu to japanese. now i can't read it to go to where it might allow me to change back to english as i can't read japanese. can someone point me in the right direction? HELP!!!

thanks, john. i had a look through the site menu but no mention of the RD1S menu operation. i'l have a good scour again but if anyone can help i'd appreciate it. i have NO idea what i did to have it suddenly switch over to japanese when it was in english when it arrived.

turn on the "on" switch
press the top button to thre right of the LCD
then press the button below it (an "M" with a circle over it) to access the main menu. use the jog dial to select the first icon to the left (counter clockwise)then use the third button from the top of the lcd screen to select (it is a left pointing arrow), then use the jog dial to move clockwise one icon to the right (looks like a clock), select (again with the 3rd hard button down from the top), and the last item on the first menu that pops up (there should be six) is the language setting. select it with the hard button, then you are in the select menu for languages and each will appear in its native form. good luck and enjoy the RD-1!!!

Well said, noimmunity. I did the same thing with my RD-1s. Downloaded the english manual and finally figured it out... You'll love this camera...

switch the camera on.

push button top right of the screen ("screen" symbol).

push button second top right ("M" kind of symbol) to enter main menu.

select the icon at north-west (camera icon). if you haven't shot pictures yet it's already there and you can not change the icons by turning the menu wheel, as all other menu items concern picture related features.

when camera icon selected, then push the middle button ("enter" symbol)

now you get new icons. choose the clock icon at north-east by turning the menu wheel. when selected, push the enter button.

now you should get a text menu without icons. the 6th from the top is the language menu. turn the menu wheel counter-clockwise to go down to it. then push the enter button.

now you have 8 languages, 4 at the left side, 4 at the right side. turn the wheel unless you are at the top right which is english.

push the enter button.
